The name "Assmann" is my maiden name. The name came into being in approximately the early 1400's. The name means divine protection. My great grandfather, Albert Assmann left Westphalia, Germany in 1872 with 2 of his cousins to go to work in a small farming community in Earling, Iowa. They had jobs waiting for them when they came to the USA. There is nothing stupid about the Assmann name.
