Man must wear sign outside post office as punishment
Shawn Gementera was ordered to stand outside a post office for 100 hours wearing a sign that reads: “I have stolen mail. This is my punishment.” This is in addition to the 2 months in prison that Gementera has already served and the 3 years of supervised release that he is currently serving.
Gementera feels that this punishment is prohibited by the Eight Ammendment of the Constitution and the Sentencing Reform Act of 1984. The US Supreme Court disagreed, and rejected Gementera’s appeal.
