Woman to spend night in woods for abandoning kittens
Michelle M Murray was sentenced after pleading guilty to abandoning domestic animals, which can carry up to a 90 day sentence and a $750 fine. But her judge decided to go for something more fitting the crime.
Judge Michael A Cicconetti sentenced Murray to spend a night in the woods without water, foot, or light as punishment for abandoning 33 kittens.
Murray had worked with an animal rescue, but abandoned the kittens because she was moving and facing personal problems.
This is not the first time that Cicconetti has imposed such an unusual sentence. A man who yelled “pigs” at a group of police officers was ordered to stand on a street corner with a pig. A man charged with playing his car stereo too loud was ordered to sit in the woods so that he would appreciate silence. And a group of high school students who vandalized a school bus were made to throw a picnic for the grade-school students whose field trip was canceled because of the vandalism.
