New Jersey needs a new state joke, err… slogan
“New Jersey: We’ll Win You Over”. Apparently the $260,000 that the state paid to Lippincott Mercer resulted in a state slogan that was too negative. So the motto was shelved, one day before it was scheduled to be unveiled.
After the Lippincott Mercer recommendation was axed, the state government decided to open up the suggestions to residents of New Jersey. A telephone hot line and a web site were established.
Among the entries:
“New Jersey: You Got a Problem With That?”
“NJ: How You Doin’?!”
“Most of Our Elected Officials Have Not Been Indicted”
“New Jersey: It Always Smells Like This”
Acting governor Richard J Codey hopes to be able to unveil the new slogan by the time he leaves office in January.
