Cop’s son nabbed in drug bust
Sean Timoney, the son of Miami police chief John Timoney, was arrested in New York state for attempting to purchase 400 pounds of marijuana from an undercover federal officer.
The 25 year-old Timoney was arrested when he gave the agent a gym bag with $450,000 in cash to purchase the drugs. He and Jae Seu were both arrested Tuesday night and charged with conspiracy to possess and distribute a controlled substance.
John Timoney is the chief of police in Miami, previously holding the same title in Philadelphia. He started his career in New York rising through the ranks to become a chief and deputy commissioner.
The elder Timoney was “aware of the arrest”, but is not commenting because “it’s a private family matter.”
