Better go to the bathroom quick
If you work for Ford you’d better be prepared to take short bathroom breaks.
Ford and the United Autoworkers union have it specified in their contract that workers are given 48 minutes to use towards bathroom breaks per shift. But Ford executives are now saying that excessive breaks are slowing down production of SUVs.
A memo was sent out earlier this week with the warning that workers are spending too much time in the bathroom and says that supervisors are to “keep close tabs on break time”. The memo bases this decision on “risks associated with safety, quality, delivery, cost and morale.”
United Autoworkers spokespeople have said that Ford is being “petty”.
