Worst quote ever from former Education Secretary William Bennett
In a moment of stupidity that can not be spun in a positive light William Bennett, Reagan’s Education Secretary, answered a call in question. His response: “But I do know that it’s true that if you wanted to reduce crime, you could, if that were your sole purpose, you could abort every black baby in this country, and your crime rate would go down.”
Then, just in case he hadn’t dug himself a deep enough hole, he added that it would be “an impossible, ridiculous and morally reprehensible thing to do, but your crime rate would go down. So these far-out, these far-reaching, extensive extrapolations are, I think, tricky”.
And I’m supposed to believe that Reagan was a great leader? this is who he chose as the Secretary of Education…
