Tattoo artist suing Nike

Matthew Reed is suing Nike over an ad that features the tattoo on Rasheed Wallace’s arm. Reed is the artist who created the tattoo and ‘installed’ it on Wallace.

Reed’s suit claims that he researched the design and charged Wallace $450 for it. Nike released an advertisement focusing on the tattoo, and that is the cause of the suit. The suit is that the image of the tattoo is either intellectual property of Reed or jointly owned by Reed and Wallace. If it found to be jointly owned, Reed is asking for a portion of the money Wallace was paid for the commercial.

  1. I can record music on my arm!

Copyright is copyright. It’s an equal right. It’s also messing the world up like this.
The tatoo and nike are in the same set. Free or not free (to copy) that is the question.
