An online romance ends in divorce for a pair of Jordanians. Turns out they were already married.
Bakr Melhern and his wife Sanaa independently decided to try online dating while separated from each other. They met in an internet chat room under the pseudonyms Adnan and Jamila.
After three months of online dating, the pair decided to marry. But before they could, the needed to meet. Upon discovery of her true identity, Bakr apparently turned white and screamed: “You are divorced, divorced, divorced” at his then-wife. This is the traditional manner for ending a marriage in Islam. Before fainting Sanaa responded, “You are a liar.”
