Mercedes offering cloth seats
Mercedes-Benz is now offering ‘leather-free’ versions of its cars. This in a move spearheaded by PETA claiming that thousands of cows are slaughtered each year for leather car seats.
The German chapter of PETA complained to Mercedes-Benz and they listened. A spokesperson from the company stated that they feel their customers will not want the cloth seats, but they are willing to custom make the cars that way for those that prefer.
According to PETA, the skins from 4 to 15 cows are needed for the interior of a car with leather seats.
