Crazy For You Bear - not a hit with mental health advocates
A teddy bear is being referred to as “”a tasteless use of marketing that stigmatizes persons with mental illness” by the executive director of the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill. The bear, intended for sale around Valentines Day, is called the ‘Crazy For You Bear’ and is sporting a straight jacket.
The company that makes the teddy bear claims that it was created “in the spirit of Valentine’s Day” and that it was not an intentional crack against the mentally ill.
They have agreed to discontinue the bear, but only after Valentine’s Day.
