You can’t get your colon cleaned in Logan, Utah

A Logan, Utah, woman is fighting the city council to allow her to run a business out of her home. The business is for a medical procedure known as colon hydrotheraphy. Yes, it is what you’re thinking. She injects water into the rectum of the patient to loosen them up.

Colette Yates invested two years and $40,000 in her home business. But the city council rejected her permit application stating that they do not want to set a precendent of a medical business in a residential area.

In other states, colon hydrotheraphy is a licensed procedure, but Utah classifies it as a homeopathic technique.

Yates compared color hydrotheraphy to massage or dermatology. For those council members not familar with the procedure, she brought detailed videos and literature.

City council Commissioner Kristina Lamborn stated that she hasn’t “heard anything negative about it, but I think it belongs in a chiropractice office.”
