Sun CEO publicy caught by hoax
Scott McNealy, CEO of Sun Microsystems, was trying to make a point on how fast technology evolves. He wound up making a different point - how easy it is to fall for internet hoaxes.
McNealy was the keynote speaker at the recent Oracle OpenWorld show. The picture, at right, was credited to Popular Mechanics as a mockup of what computers would look like in 2004. The picture actually is a mockup, but of a nuclear submarine.
Internet hoaxes are nothing new, although it is somewhat reassuring that even someone at the head of a technology company falls for them.
McNealy did make an accurate final point however with “it’s hard to imagine where we’ll be 50 years from now.”
