Men arrested for dumping dirt in a national forest
Want to do a good deed and put a little dirt around a tree. Better not if that tree’s in a national forest. It just may be illegal.
Two Idaho men were arrested after spreading dirt around a large fir tree in Kootenai County. They told the police that they were doing a good deed by giving the soil back to “Mother Earth”. According to the US Forest Service it is illegal to dump anything on federal land.
The dirt was originally removed as part of a paving project before the base was applied.
