Man fakes break in to hock engagement ring

So ladies, what would you do? A 43 year old Connecticut man staged a break in at his house, claiming his fiancee’s engagement ring had been stolen only to have the ring turn up at a pawn shop where he had sold it.

George Rich was charged with falsely claiming and incident and falsely reporting to the police for this event. He made the couples house look as though a burglar had broken in, and hocked the ring claimed to be stolen. Police noticed Rich’s name on a report of pawn shop activity, and investigated. They found a cocktail ring and an engagement ring valued at $2,500 each at the pawn shop with Rich’s name on the claim ticket.

Faced with the evidence, Rich admitted his scheme to the police.
